You have been spoiled by the 21 Distagon with it's endlesss depth of field. The 50 1.4 is a wonderful all purpose lens - also my portrait lens of choice - the colors are spectacular. As far as a landscape lens - I have found I really have to shoot it at f11 or higher. The 35 f2 ZE is my favorite landscape tool - much better depth of field with a reasonable angle of view.
Thanks philber, a very simple answer, I've prepare the ISO setting to 1600 before I have entered into the church. The 18mm Distagon was use with f=5,6. I love this lens!
