Jorge - I went back and studied the DNG files and I think this "safety" shot addresses your earlier observations. I am now a bit curious about the image degradation when the lens is stopped down. So much for the old masters who would shoot at f64 or even f128 !! I think the consensus with today's shooters is that medium f stops are optimal - I will play around with this a bit more and also on my way to Pro Photo to get a set of ND filters for the M mount lenses so I don't have to stop down so much to blur the water - thanks for your comments earlier!
Jorge - Here is a second version of the earlier horizontal shot. Both were shot at f22 with a hyperlocal setting however the horizontal was skewed towards the foreground. Thanks for your observations and comments they are very helpful and constructive - I think I will play around with various hyperfocal settings. As I understand the theory everything within the hyperfocal range should be in focus.
